Steven's Story
My name is Steven T. Before I entered The Salvation Army, my life consisted of drinking and drugs. There was no stability in my life. I lost everything that was important to me, like my kids, my family, and my self respect. My family had given up on me. The only people in my life were the ones who used alcohol and drugs with me. I was in and out of jail, and even went to prison. This period was a very dark time in my life. I did not have family nor God in my life, and I did not care about anyone or anything. I was lost and I would do whatever I needed to do to get my drugs and alcohol. I was a bad person, and I did not realize how bad my addiction was, and how bad I was hurting myself and my family. I needed to change my life before I ended up dead or back in prison. So, on October 6, 2011, I made the decision to come into The Salvation Army to make that change that was needed.
Now, seven months later, I can say that my life has changed for the better with the help of God and The Salvation Army. I don't need alcohol or drugs anymore. I now see that i have a future, and that God is working in my life. I have my family back in my life and they see the change that I have made. What has occurred in my life is awesome!! Thanks to God and The Salvation Army, I have my life back! All I can say now is "God is good all the time, and all the time God is great!" Thank you for giving my life back!
